The Trust For Virgin Islands Lands was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2006.
TVIL is a tax-exempt charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
We are a member of the Land Trust Alliance, the national convener and representative of nearly 950 land trusts across America.
TVIL is governed by a volunteer board of trustees who are dedicated and active members of the Virgin Islands community.
Our Trustees represent a broad range of interests and professions including small business owners, legal professionals, a botanical scientist/author, government and corporate professionals, a real estate agent and a construction project manager. They bring to TVIL an overarching land conservation ethic and passion for the V.I. that drives our organization forward.
Trustees:
Sarah Haynes-Brin (President), Nataki Finch Richards (Vice-President), Carlos Tesitor (Secretary/Treasurer), Gerry Groner, Bruce Wilson, Brigitte Berry, Eleanor Gibney, David Silverman, Madison Van Heurck, Amanda Sackey, and Althea Gumbs.
The Trust for Virgin Islands Lands is accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance. The accreditation seal is a mark of distinction in land conservation. It is awarded to land trusts meeting the highest national standards for excellence and conservation permanence.
Each accredited land trust completes a rigorous review process and joins a network of organizations united by strong ethical practices including fiscal accountability, strong organizational leadership, sound transactions and lasting stewardship of conserved lands.
Accreditation provides assurance to land, easement and financial donors that their donations are a secure investment in the conservation and perpetual stewardship of important lands.
